The X10 PLC home automation network consists of the following basic components:

Transmitting devices such as Remote Controls, Switches, push-button telephones and Computer Interfaces with software.

Receiving devices such as Lamp and Appliance Modules, Micromodules and DIN Rail Modules

Transceiver devices that transmit and receive such as the Transceiver Module, a plug-in device that receives an RF signal from a remote control and re-transmits it onto the power line as an X10 signal

X10 PLC Network devices such as Plug-in Filters, Filter Couplers and Whole House Filter Couplers can be installed in or near the electrical service panel. These may be required for consistent and reliable whole-house signaling performance. Whilst it is possible to obtain satisfactory results without any of the above, the use of these devices is well worth the investment to ensure optimum system performance.
